How many conversations a week your plan actually needs

Eight numbers, and nothing is sent anywhere or stored. It takes the firm you want to have in a few years and works backward to what this week has to look like. The assets you have today are held flat, so every dollar of the gap has to walk in the door.

Enter the assets you want to be managing to see what the week has to look like.

This is an educational model built entirely from the figures you enter. It assumes 47 working weeks in a year, holds the assets you have today flat rather than assuming any market return, and treats every new household as the same size. It isn’t a valuation, a forecast, a projection of investment performance, or a promise about what any firm can grow to. Ritz Stevens is a d/b/a of RitzWerks and is not a registered investment adviser. Nothing here is investment, tax, or legal advice. See our Disclosures.

How It Works

What moves the number

Average new household

The size of what you’ve actually been signing. Advisors tend to enter the number they’d like to be signing, and the week that comes back is then the week for a firm they don’t have yet.

Households you lose a year

Deaths, moves, spend-downs, and the ones who leave. Three percent a year against a hundred households is three you replace before you’ve grown at all, and that replacement is invisible in an AUM number a rising market is lifting.

Close rate

Out of ten people who sit down with you, how many sign. It’s the input most advisors have never measured and the one with the most give in it. Ten points here takes more names off your week than any amount of extra prospecting.

Years to get there

The same target over five years instead of three is a different firm and a different week. Advisors set the number and leave the runway alone, and the runway is usually the easier of the two to move.

Common Questions

Questions Advisors Ask About Growth Targets

Why does it hold my current assets flat?

Any market return assumption would turn this into a projection of investment performance, and Ritz Stevens is not a registered investment adviser. Holding flat is also the conservative read. Every dollar of the gap has to walk in the door.

Where does the weekly number come from?

New households a year, divided by your close rate, divided by 47 working weeks. It’s the same 47 the capacity check uses, so the two tools agree with each other.

What if the number it gives me is impossible?

That’s the useful answer, and it’s the common one. Something has to move: the target, the runway, or the close rate. Working out which one is most of the value in running it.

Does it store what I type?

No. Eight numbers, and nothing is sent anywhere or kept.
